My personal list of stuff that I noticed in Ubuntu:

  • the 'System->Administration->Networking thing seems present only for the first user. Something with sudoers probably.
  • bluetooth
    • gnome-obex-send not in menu
  • not everything is in the 'add/remove programs' box for some reason (i.e. ion3)
  • 'Shut down' will not warn about any other logged-in sessions.

[edit] Logout/suspend/hibernate

All these 3 have caused hangups for me at some point. ctrl-alt-f1 or ctrl-alt-backspace wouldn't help.

Hibernate leaves the USB light of my mouse off and my monitor with vertical stipes (those stripes are 'normal', but normally go away)

[edit] Analysis

Not sure how to debug that stuff.

[edit] X

Sometimes no new X windows open for a while. After waiting some time, the windows do open up.

[edit] Analysis

stracing opening an xterm, for example.

[edit] USB

At some point after hibernation, the USB connection in the back of my laptop worked, but the one on the side didn't. The light in my mouse would flicker, but not go on permanently.
