Collaborative document editing

Working on one document with several people is currently a mess.

2 general solutions exist:

  • use a Wiki or Google Documents, but that required the person who edits the file to be online.
  • use a SVN-aware (including merging/conflict resolution!) document editor

Sometimes, a document should be sent to someone who does not have direct access to the repository. It should also be possible to integrate changes by such parties, even if the source document changed in the mean time.

The latter seems of the 2 solutions seems the nicest, but afaik such editors do not currently exist.
